Easter Island

Far off the Chilean coast, Easter Island (Rapa Nui) is one of the most isolated inhabited places on Earth. Moai watch over grasslands and volcanic craters, while a living Polynesian culture still shapes the island. Journeys here move between ceremonial ahu, coastal walks, and small stays in Hanga Roa where the Pacific feels close and the rest of the world very far.

Days are best shaped by light and respect rather than a checklist of statues. Sunrise at Ahu Tongariki is the island at full scale: fifteen moai in a line, ocean behind them. Rano Raraku is where those figures were carved. Orongo sits on the rim of Rano Kau. Anakena is the soft pause: a white beach and a different ahu. Leave room between sites. The island is small on a map and large on the ground.
